Paris Disinherited! Parish Hilton News is Always Good!

Last Year Today:
Li Yilin, a former Chinese economic official, died at the age of 92.
Well, it's happened. Paris Hilton is getting a LOT less than what she assumed she was getting. I repeat: Paris Hilton has been disinherited! Can you imagine that? Paris disinherited?

Although it is amusing, and quite a hilarious thought to fantasize about Parish Hilton actually doing what some of us would consider "real work," the socialite has made herself a fair bit of profit from her growing fame over the years, and will not be short of cash.

Her Grandfather has pledged that when he does, 97 percent of his Hilton Hotels fortune will goto Charity. Amazing act of goodwill, and hilarious. I wish I was there to see Paris' face. What a great way to start off the New Year. Right?

Today in 1931:
The popular singer Skeeter Davis was born.
As the new year is merely hours away, many people are probably looking forward to the most carried on tradition of this season: the Black Eyed Peas! I have compiled a list of three of the most popular recipes that you can follow this New Years. All information taken from About.com. Hungry people beware, this is not for those of you who are fasting. In the mood for some Texas caviar? I am after reading some of these amazing recipes. Put a little cabbage with them. Oh man.

1: Black Eyed Peas and Ham:

INGREDIENTS:

  • a pound dried black-eyed peas, rinsed, picked over, soaked overnight
  • a smoked pork picnic shoulder, about 5 to 7 pounds
  • salt and pepper

PREPARATION:

Refrigerate peas in soaking liquid until cooking time. Place pork in a large pot; add water to cover. Heat to boiling. Cover and simmer for about 1 1/2 hours. Add drained peas to pot; cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours longer, or until pork and peas are tender.

Remove pork from pot; trim off skin and fat layers. Slice about half of the pork 1/4-inch thick. Season peas with salt and pepper to taste and spoon onto a deep platter. Arrange pork slices over peas. Wrap remaining pork and refrigerate.
Smoked pork picnic recipe serves 6.

Benazir Bhutto's 19-Year-Old Son, Bilawal Bhutto, To Assume Chairman Position of PPP

Today in 1945:
Davy Jones of the popular band "The Monkee's" was born.
Benazir Bhutto's son, who is only 19-years-old, will succeed her as the chairman of the Pakistan People's Party. The party says it intends to take part in elections on January 8 of the new year.

Bilawal Bhutto, Benazir's son, will chair the Pakistan People's Party with his father, Asif Ali Zardar, as his co-chairman.

The position was said to have been placed on the husband of Bhutto, but he relinquished the position to his son, who has taken the position humbly and honorably. Although many believe that the assassination and ensuing violence could postpone the elections, sources say that the election should continue on as planned, and the Pakistan People's Party states that they still wish to take part in those elections despite the loss.

"My mother always said democracy is the best revenge." Bilawal Bhutto says.
